Taylor Hagood: Writer, Lecturer, Professor

Painter

From childhood, Taylor was drawn to art. He has always loved a range of artworks, with Ben Sean, Corot, Rembrandt, Ingres, and others as particular favorites. As a kid his ability to draw served as a way into making friends in school, and in high school he made money selling scrimshawed knife handles at art shows and eventually in his family's business. He took a hiatus from producing artwork to sell in order to focus on his academic career. Now, however, he has returned to artwork, especially oil painting. Self-taught, he has worked with Stephanie Birdsall and Bob Tompkins, the Jackson-Mississippi based wildlife artist, who is always Taylor's cousin. A number of Taylor's paintings can be found at Profile Art Gallery, Jupiter, Florida. Below are some of his paintings.
